Continuing to Learn While Preparing for the Future by Alexa - November 2016 Scholarship Essay

Attending college will provide many new experiences and chances to try new things. I am excited for the opportunity to learn more and grow in my area of study. I will be most thankful for my chance to continue learning, complete my degree, and prepare for my career.

First, I will enjoy the opportunity college provides to continue to learn. Learning not only prepares me for my life, but it allows me to think deeper about any topic being taught. Knowing some surface information on a subject is a good thing, but listening and learning broadens my view of the world around me. I want to continue to learn my whole life. Having more information helps me to make better decisions, and college will help me to accomplish this life-long goal to learn.

Second, I am excited and thankful for the chance college will bring to start and complete my degree. I want to major in speech and language pathology. Having seen my siblings progress through speech therapy, I have a growing appreciation for the field. I can’t wait to begin my career as a speech pathologist! However, there are quite a few things I need to learn about this field first. College will give me the chance to take the courses I need to graduate, thereby allowing me to begin my work as a speech pathologist.

Finally, I will be thankful that college will prepare me for my career path. The things I learn, classes I take, and teachers I listen to, will all help me to get ready to become a speech pathologist. The techniques taught by my professors will enable me to be the best I can be, and the situations provided will prepare me for a variety of circumstances and teach me how to meet the needs I encounter. I know I will be incredibly thankful for the time others have taken to help me along the way and the time taken to make sure that I do my best.

I will be most thankful for the opportunity to continue to learn and the experience of preparing for my future. I am very excited to continue learning about speech pathology. I know I will appreciate all the learning and studying that will allow me to complete my major. Attending college is a privilege, and I am thankful for the opportunity to pursue higher learning, and am very eager to begin.
