Dinner with Washington by Alena - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

Dinner with Washington would be a blast into the future as I introduce him to some of the cool (and not so cool) things from our time. First, I would sit down with him and introduce him to food he never ate, like pizza and Del Taco. It would be so funny to watch how surprised he is with these “new” foods. I would introduce him to other “weird” food items from this time, like pop rocks and soda, just so I can see how he would react.
Besides just introducing him to new foods, I would also talk about how things are going in his country. I would discuss Donald Trump and the current actions he is taking as president, as well as what he stands for. I would love to see what George Washington would think about him. I wonder if he would be surprised by his actions or fully support him.
Finally, during dinner, I would show him the internet. I have always wondered what people from the past would do if they found the internet. I would like to think that George Washington would read, and add on to, his wikipedia page. Washington just seems like that kind of person who would be so excited by new things. Dinner with him would be whimsical.
