The Best Dinner With The Best President by aleksys - October 2017 Scholarship Essay
If I were able to have dinner with one U.S. President, it would most definitely be Barack Obama. In my opinion, Obama seemed the most laid back and jocund president we’ve had. Of course there was Kennedy and Lincoln who seemed to be “go with the flow” type guys, but I would very much enjoy the presence of Barack Obama.
Barack Obama has this persona of a loving father, husband, and countryman. With that, I feel connecting with him enough to have a conversation would be very simple. The possible “dad jokes” he might have seem endless as well as my laughter if I ever heard any. Obama also seems like he has this great relationship with his wife, Michelle, in which case I respect him deeply.
As for other presidents, they mostly seem uptight and not very personal. If I were to have dinner with a president, I would not want to simply cut into a steak and a dry conversation. The only other presidents that I might have a decent dinner with is Kennedy and Lincoln. Kennedy seemed relaxed because he was definitely a people’s person. His intentions were seen very clearly. Lincoln as well had this calm persona despite the situations thrown his way.
The main reason I would highly enjoy having dinner with Barack Obama is because this man is such a respectable human, I would enjoy his presence even if he wasn’t a president.
