dinner with Mr. Rockefeller by alejandro - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

The person that I would like to have dinner with is the industrial titian John D Rockefeller. The reason this person is a man who really was one of the first big entrepreneur of the industrial age in America. There would be only three questions I would want to ask Mr. Rockefeller, how did he tell when to make an investment on a product, what to look for in a business idea of service, and what did he do to manage his money and what contributions did he make to the world and the general public? This is one of the few things I am having with the field of business I am having trouble with.
For dinner I would make my grandmother recipe of meatloaf with Spanish rice and gravy for side dish. After I amaze him with my culinary skills I would ask him my first question is how he did make is investment on standard oil. What did he see in this product who made him millions, what would he recommend looking for in a future project. As this information would be as helpful when I enroll in college for the business major I will be studying.
After dinner is over I was thinking we could play card, maybe poker maybe blackjack, I don’t know I’ll let him decide. But while were playing card I would ask him my second question, how do I keep a look out for the next best thing? He invested in how crude oil gets transported to the refineries, and is still in use today. I want to know how he saw something so simple yet genius. Not only that I want to know if something is going to be just a fad or revolutionary. This is a trait that I think every person entering the business world should have to some degree. This is something I can Mr. Rockefeller how to do since his investment is still in use to this day.
Lastly I would serve him dessert which would be fresh fudge brownies with a side of vanilla ice cream. While he is impressed with the classy dessert I will ask him my final question. How did manage his money and what did he spend his money on that help the general public. What were the just causes of his time poverty, the church, disease or education? The causes I would donate to are cancer research, poverty, and education. The reason I would want to donate money to help solve these problems is because somehow they affect us. Someone you know or care about could be suffering from these situations at this moment, even people in another country suffer more because they lack the education in there country. To think with all the economic success and scientific discoveries these things can still happen. Not just we, as a race lack the money, but because we lack the moral drive to see an end to these things. That is my one goal in my life, by the end of my life I want to see real change, not the talk of it, but a change that has actually taken shape in our world.
This are all concerns I would like to ask Mr. Rockefeller. He must have had a vision of what he would have wanted the world to be. He may have been one of the riches people in u.s history. But like all of humankind he must have wanted a brighter future for his fellow man’s descendants. I wouldn’t mind asking for his opinions on my concerns with just not my future, but for mankind’s future as well.
