Eminent Education, My New Interpretation by Alberto - July 2014 Scholarship Essay
In my education history I have had one teacher who has positively changed my attitude toward my education. His name is Mr. Strand and is a science teacher. He always tried his best to give the opportunity of success to his students. While being in his class I learned a lot, whether it was about our current content we were studying or a random fact. So let me start by introducing him.
My former teacher, Mr. Strand, absolutely changed my attitude towards education this last year. He is the Earth and Space teacher at Tigard High School as well as a football coach. Mr. Strand is a great teacher and tries his best to make sure that each and every one of his students has the opportunity to succeed in his class
Mr. Strand has a saying, “well the important ones are here” meaning that the people who cared about his class would be there on time and be ready to learn. That being said he did not wait for people to show up to start teaching. This allowed the students that were there on time the full ability to learn. Mr. Strand almost never had his class bored or the feeling to take a nap. He never had the exact same routine/lesson for his classes as the previous class or previous semester leading which kept him and his students wanting to go to class, and if you didn’t learn enough by the end of class he would throw in a fun fact for fun.
Being in Mr. Strand’s class was awesome; it was absolutely my favorite class and teacher. I actually looked forward to his class every day. Whether we were taking notes or had a lab day I was always intrigued by the content and still remember most of the content he taught us as well as his fun facts.
Mr. Strand always helped his students to the fullest. He kept a upbeat pace in his teaching which led to more activities. For once I enjoyed science class and looked forward to it every day. In the end Mr. Strand was a fantastic teacher and truly affected my view on education.
