Financial Path to College by Alanis - August 2018 Scholarship Essay
My podcast's topic would be the importance of informing low income communities on how to prepare their children for college and receive financial aid through scholarships. Now for many people, that is no easy feat. Rather, it is a topic that makes some uneasy when figuring out how to pay for colleges. Luckily, not every penny has to come out of your pocket. With the right help and resources, you can come out of college debt free and stress free with savings easily. Scholarships can relieve financial stress through college and applying for them is easier than you may think.
I understand when the the road has been unpaved and seems daunting to venture when talking about education. I understand when you may feel discouraged to attend a college or university when the price is sky rocketing high. There is hope. You can and will attend college.
Scholarships are a form of financial aid available to any and everyone. Search the web. If you're Hispanic, Asian, Caucasian, Pacific Islander, there are scholarships that are just for you. The task is pursuing them and never giving up. It can be a boring task, but will pay off for you or your child's future.
I will be traveling to the well known community centers around the state such as the Boys and Girls Club and holding seminars and workshops. These seminars and workshops will assist you in giving you or your child encouragement to apply for scholarships, steps on how to apply, and pay for college tuition and fees with scholarship money you receive. This will be a 6 week course held once a week and free. Anyone is welcome.
Communities need to be educated on the pathways available for themselves and their children to get to a college/ university. We have the potential for a bright future if we take the time and resources to get ourselves to where we want to be. It requires work, but work that will pay off.
