My Transition to College by Alana - March 2015 Scholarship Essay

It can sometimes be extremely difficult to tell whether you are prepared for what life is going to throw at you next. What makes me feel confident going into college is the amount of clubs and activities I have participated in throughout high school. The offices I held in these clubs has taught me how to take responsibility of many tasks at one time, something fresh college students seem to struggle with.

Juggling my extra curricular activities, including volleyball, Ski Club, Art Club, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, class Vice President, Key Club, and my local 4-H Club, I quickly learned how to manage my time between my honors classes and other duties. I developed a plan that designated time to work on homework and time to participate in other activities. By running many of these meetings and partaking in them all, I lived a lifestyle busier than you could imagine. By being an active member in each of these it has transformed my balance of time.

I am prepared for the many sleepless nights, the long hours of studying, and the difficult lessons I am about to endure. I truly give thanks to my mother for always pushing me to be an active member in my school and community. She has showed me how much pressure I can withstand, and in the fall of this year, I will feel confident walking into that classroom, ready to take on the world. I'm not saying college will be easy for me, but I have prepared myself in the best way possible. I am ready for this adventure and I could not be more excited to begin developing my career.
