Where I See Myself Ten Years From Now by Ahonsi - March 2025 Scholarship Essay

Ten years from now, I envision myself as a committed and empathetic physician, touching lives by offering quality care and services. My path to becoming a physician will have been influenced by years of intense study, hard work, and an inherent desire to serve others.
My background for success would have been laid through undergraduate studies. Throughout my academic journey, I have demonstrated a strong interest in analytical elements of mathematics, which has evolved into a solid foundation for my scientific inclinations. Chemistry is the subject in which I have had the most interest, thoroughly enjoyed, and excelled, because of this I want to continue on a path that involves science. My choice is supported by the strong association of chemistry with my dream job of becoming a doctor. I recognize the importance of having a strong knowledge of chemistry to realize my dream of becoming a great leader in the medical field. Chemistry constitutes the foundation for understanding how drugs act inside the human body, the interactions with other pharmacological agents, and what approaches must be used to address the effects of drugs for the greatest benefit. A degree in chemistry presents one of the best bases for my career choice in medicine and works well with my strengths. However, I know from my exposure to volunteering at hospitals that the medical field is diverse, and because of this, I know I should not limit myself to a single area.
During my graduate degree and residency I will have gained practical exposure by way of internships, research studies, and volunteer services at hospitals and health clinics. All such experiences would have strengthened my notions of patient handling and prepared me to meet future challenges.
Education will not just mold me professionally, but also personally, to have a lifelong dedication to learning and development. I would, ten years from now, want to be able to look back with pride on the fact that my education has helped me make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
