Dear Selection Committee,

My name is Afeez Alabi, a second-year graduate student at Texas Southern University. As a dynamic individual pursuing a major in Masters in Information Systems (MIS), I seek to shift paradigms by leveraging technology as a tool for innovation, Businesses progress, and social justice. The Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest offers an avenue to support this vision.

My academic journey has always been centered around my passion for IT, fueled by the prospect of transforming the world around us. From my high school years, where I maintained a GPA of 3.2, to my continued efforts in my graduate studies at Texas Southern University where my GPA has remained consistent - my academic accomplishments reflect not just my commitment to my education, but to the field of Information Technology itself, in which i want to put in my best for this spring semester for my GPA to be atleast 4.0.

As a Black man in the field of IT, I bring a unique perspective that contributes to the diverse dimensions needed to solve complex problems. I believe in using my identity to enrich my field, encouraging a more inclusive setting which I believe can spark groundbreaking ideas and solutions.

As a student of IT, the infinite scope of this field both invigorates and humbles me. My goal is to break boundaries in the world of technology, infusing creativity and critical thinking into how we approach IT. From developing apps that contribute to social justice movements to creating digital solutions that simplify tasks in our daily life, my mission is to harness the power of IT to drive change and progress.

The financial aid from the Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest would be instrumental in achieving these ambitious undertakings. The scholarship would aid me not only in offsetting the increasing cost of graduate education but also provide the financial assurance that will allow my unhampered focus on my studies and projects that make a difference.
