The Life of an Architect by Aeneas - June 2023 Scholarship Essay
June 8th, 2033 at 5:44 AM: Waking up, I start my day off with a prayer and jump out of bed. Walking over to the window, I stare ahead and think of how far I’ve come. The image in my head that used to be a dream has now become reality. I completed college and graduated with my PhD in Architecture; I opened a nonprofit for environmental sustainability and even have enough money to buy another house. While staring out the window, I suddenly got a call.
“Hey, Good Morning! We’re going to need some help today. Are you free to stop by?” asked my manager.
Realizing once more that I have a job and a duty to fulfill, I quickly respond.
“Morning, I’ll be there! What time should I arrive?”
“Probably around 8:30-9 O’clock.”
Once off the phone, I gather my belongings, take a shower, perform my daily routine, and get breakfast. As an Architect, life can move pretty fast sometimes. Keep in mind, I woke up about 30 minutes ago and got a call about another job we have to take care of. With less than 3 hours to spare, I get a workout in and watch some news. As soon as 8:00 hit, I grabbed the keys to my truck and drove to the site. Every time there was a difficult situation to handle, I would get called to come for help. Not only was I very skillful in this occupation, but the knowledge I acquired from college helped me excel in this field of study.
“I’m really glad I took that course back in college!” I thought to myself. Had I not taken the Architecture Principles and Applications class, this would not have been as easy as it seemed. I can thank my professors and interest in Architecture for how far I’ve made it. Thanks to that, I have a job that I love (so I basically never work a day in my life) and an everlasting passion for trying out new designs and difficult tasks.
To be completely honest, If you had asked me how I envisioned my life when I was younger, I would have never been able to answer in accordance with how I am living today. Life is amazing, I’m thankful to be blessed with these opportunities and people, and I’m going to keep doing my best to ensure that everyone is happy with what they get and that I (and my co-workers) are satisfied with the job well done.
If there has been one thing I’ve learned up until this point, its definitely that taking your time to understand and learn concepts will most definitely assist you later on in life for the better.
