Healthcare . Please I Want The Writer To Write Very Clear As How A College Student Will Write. by Adriana - November 2023 Scholarship Essay
As little kids, we have always been told that college will benefit our future and education. Knowing that I wanted to go into the medical, my goal was to always go to college. I already knew my mind was set on the Health Sciences: Pre-Physician Assistant program as I have heard many positive feedback from the degree. I am excited to start a degree that has a mix of everything I need in order to succeed in Physician Assistant school.
As a first-generation American with Hispanic parents, I speak English and Spanish fluently. I am familiar with all the struggles that many Hispanic people who don’t speak English have to go through to communicate with doctors and nurses when they need medical help. This motivates me to learn and educate myself more about the medical field.
With this skill, I was able to aid my church school class in translating for kids who don't speak Spanish. Most Sundays, I would work with the second-grade confirmation class in order to translate for two non-native speakers to help them grow their connection with God and understand the importance of the sacrament of confirmation. We connected on a whole new level because we were able to share stories from our Hispanic culture and understand how hard our parents worked in order for us to have the opportunity to be in this country. Not only was I able to put my skills to use but this sparked my interest in pediatrics emergency medicine. Working with kids has always been a passion of mine ever since I was a little girl. I grew up in many different summer camps where I ended up taking care of younger kids because of how much joy I found in it.
That experience simply had a huge impact on me because it made me realize that I could help not just the American population, but the Hispanic community as well. My ability to speak both languages opened doors for me to grow in the language and immerse myself in the culture. If we need to work for the rest of our lives, I want to do a career where I can make a direct impact on the human population. Knowing that people are hurt and need my help is what can get me out of bed every morning.
