Yearning for Learning by Aden - September 2018 Scholarship Essay

Learning for many high school students is a chore, something that an individual has to partake in eight hours a day. For myself, learning is a constant, whether this is in a classroom environment or in everyday life. Learning can be as simple as solving a mathematical equation you worked hard at, or it could be discovering a new way to fasten two objects together.
In 25 years, I see myself surrounded by colleagues working together to reach common goals. That could mean meeting sales quotas or inventing new devices to better the world. Political events will continue to be controversial, and with them, comes the responsibility to be educated on each subject.
"The art of being able to learn how to learn will be crucial to your life in the future, employers want to hire the type of person that can pick up a task and learn how to complete it. They want somebody who can be taught quickly and retain that information. Your learning will never end."
This is a quote from my English teacher Mr. Erick Olson, this has taught me that an individual who has committed to learning is valuable. In the near future, technology will adapt and machines will be used more frequently. In order to advance as a society, we need to be learners.
25 years from now, I believe that I will learn by not only forming opinions in the political world, but using every day things that I do not yet understand and make it a goal to learn something new everyday. The human mind is never done learning, older individuals can learn to play an instrument, a newcomer to a sport will learn the rules, events like this will take the future by storm.
I will continue my education through perseverance, learning new ways to take on a challenge, and helping others are good ways to learn. This world is information, and I believe that by noticing those minor details, the world of learning is an open door for eternity.
