Easier Transportation - Addison McGuire by Addison - September 2023 Scholarship Essay

It is only my second month in school, and I will say I love it here at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Everyone I have met has been very kind and understanding. Everyone seems to always be willing to lend a hand and help where they can. I; however, find issue when it comes to getting from class to class for those who have injuries, medical conditions, or other issues. I therefore recommend having golf carts made accessible for the use of transporting students from place to place.
Here in Georgia, it gets hot, and it can get hot fast, and when it comes time to head to class or the dining hall from the dorms that trek can be difficult or at least exhaustive. Me, a healthy and pretty active young woman, find that walk sometimes difficult. I cannot imagine what it is like for all those with injuries or medical conditions preventing quick mobility. I have seen numerous men and women with leg braces or other injuries having to move at a slower pace trying to get to and from their destinations in the heat of the day.
For those who do not suffer from injuries or medical conditions there are solutions for making their journey under the sun more enjoyable and efficient. They can ride bikes, scoters, and skateboards. However, those who are injured may not have the luxury of being able to do so, and those with medical conditions like asthma may find this a struggle especially due the temperature. Not to mention when the forecast in rainy or stormy. They then face a whole other array of challenges.
My solution to this problem is to dedicate some of ABAC's golf carts to the use of transportation for students, placing higher priority on those with injuries and medical conditions. This should decrease the amount of time it takes them to get to class and back to the dorm and will provide a level of support knowing that their school cares and will try to accommodate for their injuries/medical conditions. This mode of transportation will also help shelter them from the sun and other whether conditions and can also be used to help prevent possible medical emergencies such as heat stroke, asthma, and dehydration.
