Valedictorian by Addison - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

Within my high school years I have held a grade point average of 4.0, unweighted, and 4.038, weighted. As I go into my next year of high school my goal is to raise that grade point average a little bit more. I have been doing it for three years and believe that I am capable of doing it for another year.
My freshman year I choose not to take any advanced placement classes, but rather focus on honors classes. I took honors science and math that year. I felt as though this challenge was a start for my grades. I was able to study and work very hard all year to get straight A's.
Following my freshman year came sophomore year. I pondered long and hard on the idea of taking an AP class but the idea of two different sports and extra working hours, it just was not the time for me. I continued with honors classes. Honors Chemistry and Honors algebra 2. I felt as though I could have been more challenged this year with the work load, but in the end I kept that 4.0 for the second year in a row.
When it came to my junior year I realized how much I loved chemistry. The next option for me was to take AP Chemistry and I did just that because I felt as though I loved it so much that I could take on the challenge of this course. Along with that I took AP United States Government and honors pre calculus. With these classes came lots of studying and time management. I was also juggling the two sports this same year, and a job. In the end I was able to come out with a raised GPA of 4.038.
Going into my Senior year I want to continue to push myself with AP classes. That is why I have taken AP calculus this coming year. I plan to work hard every single day to bring that GPA up. I feel as though I can reach my goal of raising that GPA with my discipline, hard work, and dedication.
