Am I doing ok? by Adam - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
You say to turn the other cheek when someone attacks, but I want to make sure that person can’t harm me or anyone else again. What’s that? You want me to love my neighbor as I love myself. Well that I can do, but I know a few people who don’t love who they are. Maybe that’s why they treat people poorly. I know I am not supposed to love the world, and I don’t; I can’t sit here any say I haven’t dreamt of owning my own private jet. I’m pretty sure I would never be late again.
Theoretical physics, partial differential equations, calculus, and organic chemistry all seem a little more complicated than they need to be; help me out here. Suffering builds perseverance and character, but sometimes it seems like it detrimental to their wellbeing. I want to help everyone, but there is so much I don’t know. Do you think I could live at least until I am 130? That should be more than enough time to learn everything I need and get through my backlog of video games. If I was a little bit smarter I could find the cure for cancer. If I was a little more athletic, I could play in the NBA.
Oh by the way Jesus, could you pass the soy sauce. Have you had sushi before? It is pretty much the best thing ever. Never mind, I forget that you don’t have to experience everything to know everything. Actually don’t worry about all those questions. Something tells me this is going to be the best day of my life.
