Isolation by Adam - May 2022 Scholarship Essay

I was thrown into the deep end of the pool without ever learning how to swim. Forced to transition to a new style of learning which contradicted my previous decade of education. I needed a plan.
At first, the process was tedious and arduous, but little did I know those struggles would evolve into academic excellence.
It was more than just firing up my computer, my current procedure was inadequate and desperately demanded a replacement. The first sight of countless new assignments only ignited cortisol to swamp any reasonable thoughts. Knowing that if I did not start working instantly my one dream of a normal night of sleep would be erased, I was inspired. Yet no matter how hard I worked it seemed as if there was not enough time in the day to complete what was assigned.
Continuously on the backfoot of my work, I noticed complications deeper than just my dreadful sleep schedule. Physical injuries affected daily life and my mental sanity slowly eroded. A change was needed. I took a step back and looked toward a new approach to completing my work.
I kept a planner to allow me to manage my time. This exceptional change allowed me to avoid the inundate feelings, I was able to manage the endless workload. The war in my life demanded the invention of time management. After implementing this new strategy, the once unbearable workload became significantly easier. Throughout the entirety of distance learning, this small cheat allowed me to excel against any foreign obstacle thrown at me.
The skill of time management has been one of the most beneficial skills I have developed. I continue to follow the same protocol in my senior year and since my epiphany, the gut-wrenching clench of demanding workloads became an introduction to a brighter future.
