An Important Required Class by Adalia - June 2018 Scholarship Essay

I believe Student Leadership should be a required class for students to take during High School. I took this class as a junior and enjoyed making a difference in my school and local community. Going into it I didn't really know what to fully expect but was excited for the new things I would learn. I know that everyone has different personalities but I believe taking this class can bring people together to solve a problem or to create an amazing learning experience that allows students to put the lessons they've learned into not only classroom but community settings as well.

Knowing there's different leadership styles and unique areas of expertise in one classroom altogether,it can really make a difference in a project. Some of the projects I worked on were school safety, helping upcoming freshman, reminding students to be safe during prom night, getting sponsorships for awards nights, and so many other tasks. My favorite was definitely the school safety project. I had to make parents and students aware of how things would not only change at our school with metal detectors but also explain how I felt about it.

This class has so many ways to better a student during high school and in the future. You can learn how to be more confident,a better public speaker, how to get out of your comfort zone, and so forth. These are vital characteristics I truly believe every student should have. Because in life people can be faced with conflicts but you must lead in your values, character and integrity at all times to be able to face life's challenges with your head held up high.

Even if someone doesn't want to be the leader of things it can teach them how to even lead in their own life. Taking charge of life and putting your best foot forward always can lead someone in the right direction. You never know who's watching or what you can become. Overall, I learned how to work with others better and to be open to new ideas because of this class. Which is something I'll never forget nor regret putting my time and effort into. And I'm proud to say that it'll certainly be something I'll carry on in life and remember.
