New Year's resolution that will help you become a better student in 2016 by Abigail - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

I would not consider school to come easy for myself. Other classmates would beg to differ with my opinion. However, I put in hours a week on daily assignments and studying for upcoming tests. I chose to challenge myself academically, and enrolled into college level courses for my senior year of high school. In these classes, I am probably one of the few who put in the extra effort in order to fully grasp an understanding of material. With a complete change in curriculum as I pursue a higher education in 2016, my study habits and my organizational skills will have to have to develop to stay ahead of the schoolwork.
The year of 2016 will entail tremendous changes. The substantial transition between high school and college will transpire. The curriculum will more demanding, and my study habits will have to modify. To become a better student at the end of my senior year and the beginning of freshman year, I must implement more effort toward my school work. I will begin to review test materials three to four days before the exam. Also, in attempt to better understand my notes, I will rewrite them or transfer the material from an online file to paper for a more suitable reference approach. To excel in the new learning environment of college, I will have to step outside of my comfort zone in many ways. When I cannot grasp a concept, I must speak up and request help to form an understanding. Further, I must overcome peer criticism when voicing my opinion or when hesitantly answering a question in class. Also, class participation will help involve myself in the discussion too. In order to become an avid student and maintain a high grade point average in 2016, I must keep my focus and put in the extra effort to excel.
