A lot of people don't travel the world much because they build their families and have their careers. Why not travel or be in a foreign country before all those decisions become a reality. Studying abroad would be a very wise choice if you would like to go somewhere besides your home country. Especially while you're in college, you are already getting a whole new experience, bump it up a little bit. Studying abroad should be required because you can see a whole different experience, meet new people, and maybe move there when you’re older.
Going away for college is a whole new experience just like studying abroad. Trying different kinds of foods and maybe learn a few words of the language spoken there, would be life changing. Knowing their culture and their fashion are other factors that you can experience by choosing or being required to go study there. There’s so much to explore and you can have that chance. Doing study abroad can change you and you can get out of your shell. It can make you become more outgoing or friendly if you’re shy, and if you’re not you can make new friends.
Another benefit can be if your career assigns you to a foreign country and you can easily go to where you went when you did study abroad because it will be easier to adapt if they give you a choice. If they don’t, you would at least know what to expect in a country that is not yours. You may become fluent in that language if you studied abroad and it would be easier to learn similar ones. For example, if you go to Italy and learn Italian, French and Spanish can be much easier to learn once you learned Italian because they are similar words in the language. Don’t shorten yourself to a great opportunity that others may not get.
Studying abroad is an excellent idea and should be required because college students can experience something out of their comfort zone and maybe love it after all. If it was just an option, a lot of people would not do it and will stay in their home country and not explore and expand their knowledge of the world. Meeting new people would be life changing because it will be a lesion and experience that even though they are both human being, their lifestyles are much different and maybe would want to have that lifestyle in the future. It’s all about what you would like in life, why not travel and see if it is truly what you would love. Requiring it would give everyone a chance to see a whole different view of things and that should be one of the things a person should get.
