Pennsylvania by Abel - May 2016 Scholarship Essay
When finals are quickly approaching most of us tend to begin cramming information from our review papers and end up finding ourselves twisting up knowledge and inevitably having a hard time during the exams. I tell you that the thing you thought you needed the least is actually the thing that can help you the most. I’m talking about sleep. It’s surprising that a large percentage of the population take sleep for granted. How could they do such a thing, right? Sleep is such a wonderful and much required thing in life that if you don’t do it you literally go crazy in a matter of time. Sleep, oddly enough, actually helps you to store recently acquired knowledge according to analysis gathered by the Harvard Health Blog. Those who take longer naps in between their study sessions can potentially do better.
Now, I don’t want to have a misinterpreting image. I am not saying to spend more time sleeping than cramming. What I am trying to explain to you, the audience, is that if you take momentary breaks to relax and nap on a very tight schedule you will do better. Take a nap in the car, in the cafeteria, on the couch, in a bathtub, in your bed, etc. Once you review or practice your troublesome subjects take a nap and repeat. The deeper the sleep the more you’ll reap.
