Learning is Forever by Abby - April 2016 Scholarship Essay

Students learn numerous and invaluable lessons throughout their time of attending school. As a person that has graduated and completed grade school, I have made many mistakes and I have learned important lessons from those mistakes. Every student will go through the same process of living and learning; however, it is important to pass down advice to make that process a little easier. If I were to give a younger student a piece of advice knowing what I know now, I would share Shivani Agarwal’s, a professor from Harvard, quote, “Education is not for few years learning process it's a life long till the end of life process.”
This quote sums up everything I have learned about being a student. It is important for students to know that there will never be a day where they do not learn. This is because there is always something new to learn. When I was a typical student in middle school, I looked forward to the day when I would be out of school and did not have to learn anymore. Eventually I figured out that life is all about learning. From that moment on, school became something in my life that I enjoyed because I found the importance in knowledge.
By giving students this piece of advice, it will put school and what it means in perspective. School becomes less completing endless amounts of worksheets and more about gaining knowledge. By knowing how big of an aspect learning and education is in life, doing good in school becomes more important for the right reasons. By going through the routine of school, it can get mundane and become a not as meaningful process. I would share the advice that ‘learning never stops’ to change the view on learning and give it more meaning for students.
