From High School Student to a LNP by Abbey - March 2025 Scholarship Essay

Multiple times I have been asked the question, “Where do you see yourself in 10 years?”, and every time I tend to respond with something like I want to have a family, or I want to be financially stable and have a house, husband, and a job that I love. I have never thought about in detail what I want my life to look like in ten years because it is impossible to see that far. I do know that I want to finish my education and, hopefully, work in a family doctor’s office as a nurse practitioner.

By going to college, I hope to gain the knowledge and experience needed to ensure that I have what it takes to pursue a career in healthcare. In college, I look forward to meeting new people and getting to know their backgrounds and why they chose the career that they did. College will further expand my
connections and put me on the right path to become a nurse.

After I graduate college, I want to work close to home, so I can stay near my immediate family. I hope to meet someone, get married, and have a family. My faith has always been a big part of my life and I am excited to teach my kids about the love of Christ, and strive to build my life around my faith. Everything that I do within ten years will be done because of God’s glory and his plan for my life, and I am hopeful for my future.
