Abbey Weyand, CEO by Abbey - September 2018 Scholarship Essay

In 25 years I see myself as the owner of my own Cyber Security Company. I plan to attend Rice University or University of Texas in Austin and get my masters degree in computer science in the field of cyber security. After working for a computer company for about 10 years I want to venture out and start my own business.

I know once I have my own company I want to be completely involved in whatever is being done at the company and since computer viruses and threats are constantly changing and evolving, I know that I will be learning every day. I will be taking continuing education classes to keep myself ahead of cyber security threats and there will be decryption seminars that I can attend as well as face to face learning from my co-workers. In addition, since computers are also always changing, I know I will be learning daily about how computers are changing and new computer languages that are being created quite often.

I believe that the field that I am choosing will be a field that will require constant learning and since I love to learn, it helps me to know for sure that I am pursuing the right field for my career.
