A time in my life when I had to become adversity was my junior year in high school, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we were attending school on-line. Although stressful, this life event better prepared me to be successful in college. This period taught me so many much-needed skills which are vital for being successful in college. Two of which are being independent and responsible. In virtual school, you could turn off your camera or be on your phone, but I made the decision to be attentive and do assignments on time. While online, there are no teachers to tell you to get back to work or to do your assignments which is very similar to college. I learned to be more independent in my learning and to be more resourceful which has prepared me for college. It also taught me time management skills which will be imperative for me to be successful in college.

I believe my hard-working mindset helped me the most along the way. I set a goal every year to finish my classes with straight A’s while also taking honors and AP classes when I could. I carried this mindset and this passion to succeed ever since. I will continue to carry this hard-working mentality throughout college and later into life thanks to the Plano ISD, its caring staff, and its programs.
