Nobel Prize Commitee by Aaron - December 2018 Scholarship Essay
As Mr. Nobel originally intended, each prize nominee must fit a certain archetype. This comes not in the form of a check list, but a group of needs. For instance, the Nobel Peace Prize requires, "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." I simply say, let the individuals fit the guise of integrity, goodwill, and leadership. The second qualification would be one of preference to help determine who take the cake so to say; which contribution has the most utility? An example of the second rule in practice would be two scientific discoveries; the first, physical proof and the dynamic function of dark matter, and the other, the cure to cancer. Obviously they are both amazing discoveries, but cancer is more important as it saves human lives, while the properties of dark matter only add to the archive of our astrophysical knowledge.
So, let the mind that made the discovery, or invented the technology be integral, show goodwill, or good intent for the discovery, leadership skills, and high utility. The world is powered by the minds of a few, who share the luxury to all.
