College by aaliyah - June 2013 Scholarship Essay

Education has always been important to me. College was never an option but a must.  A $1,000 dollar scholarship will take a small burden off my tuition especially if I decide to go to a private school like Nova Southeastern. This scholarship along with others can help me pursue my dreams. I have always wanted to study abroad and this school offers the best study abroad program in the United States. I plan on becoming a dermatologist, so after obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I will go on to medical school which will add up to my debts. My other options are less expensive universities so a $1,000 scholarship will go a long way. Even though $1,000 cannot pay my whole tuition, it can pay for my books which is a start. I never wanted money to be the reason why I could not afford to go to a good school. I remember once reading a Nelson Mandela quote saying “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”  Any scholarship that I am awarded, I will be very appreciative of because that is less stress I have to deal with. Thinking about how to pay for an education is one of the most stressful times and any scholarship can ease my mind.
