Example Question #1 : Fractions
What portion of the circle is blue?
The circle is split into four pieces. One of those pieces is blue. When we have an object that is split into four pieces we can say that it's split in fourths. One fourth of the circle is green. The fraction for one fourth is .
Notice that we have four pieces from the picture.
Now look at the fraction
The number is at the bottom of the fraction which stands for the four pieces of the circle. The number is at the top of the fraction which stands for the one piece that is blue.
Example Question #2 : Fractions
