I'm infinitely curious, always exploring and learning more about the people around me and how the world works.

I am a premedical student majoring in biology and psychology attending Union College in upstate New York, as part of the 8-year combined "Leadership in Medicine" program with Albany Medical College. Since as early as elementary school, math has been my favorite academic subject, and most of my tutoring experience has been in tutoring math. I enjoy math of all kinds, from algebra to geometry to higher-level mathematics like calculus and statistics, and I find the problems to be like fun mini puzzles where there are different strategies to arrive at the correct answer. I hope to use my skills and experience with math to help clarify confusing concepts and give students the tools they need to solve complex problems. Outside of math, I am also proficient in essay editing and test prep (SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP). I have worked as a college admissions essay editor for over a year and edited essays for students who were accepted to top schools like CalTech, Northwestern, and Northeastern. I would be happy to share editing samples upon request. On both the SAT and ACT exams, I scored in the 99th percentile, with a perfect score on my ACT. It would be a rewarding experience for me to play a part in helping you maximize your academic potential.
I am expecting to complete my PhD within the year. I offer tutoring for English or AP English classes, and writing assignments for any class at any level, as well as SAT, GRE and GRE Literature preparation.
I am beginning work as a management consultant in the engineering space this summer (2020).
I am very flexible, self-reflective and resourceful. My broad range of clients (ADHD students, international students, children, teenagers and adults who are in professional fields) have given me the opportunity to develop crucial traits such as patience, dedication and empathy.
I am a senior at George Fox University majoring in English and Spanish. I tutor SAT prep, Language Arts, and Spanish.
I am a graduating senior at Northeastern University working toward a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. I have more than a year's experience of substitute teaching for grades K-12, and I have taught in less formal settings as a camp counselor, a youth mentor, and a captain on sports teams. I find great joy in teaching and helping others, and I especially enjoy helping people with their writing skills or ACT/SAT prep. I wholeheartedly believe that everybody deserves access to the most effective education and that learning is a lifelong experience, and I hope that my students grow to believe the same. By treating students with respect and attempting to truly make a connection with them, I get the privilege of seeing the enthusiasm light up in their eyes, which is a wonderful feeling. In my spare time, I love reading, writing, running, exploring the outdoors, and watching and playing all kinds of sports (especially Ultimate Frisbee and ice hockey).
My name is Sameer Sahai, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Washington. With over 3 years of tutoring experience, I specialize in subjects such as SAT, Algebra 2, AP Calculus AB, AP Computer Science A, and AP Physics C: Mechanics. My teaching philosophy centers on recognizing that each student learns differently; I tailor my lesson plans to meet individual needs, ensuring that concepts are both accessible and engaging. I am passionate about helping students build their confidence in math and science, as I believe that understanding these subjects opens doors to future opportunities. In addition to my tutoring experience, I have volunteered at a Hindi school, where I developed my skills in adapting to diverse learning styles. Outside of academics, I enjoy programming and leading coding clubs, which further fuels my enthusiasm for teaching.
I am a professional scientist with multiple years of experience in the biopharmaceutical field. I have spent time in the classroom with elementary aged students and am comfortable with this age group. I am also familiar with AP classes and ACT/SAT preparation. I look forward to sharing my love of learning with students and helping them achieve academic goals!
I'm a Computer Science and Law, Societies, and Justice major at the University of Washington. I've tutored K12 students across a wide range of subjects, including district curriculum, AP courses, and SAT/ACT preparation. I also founded a volunteer tutoring program focused on dual-language support in Mandarin and English. I'm passionate about helping students reach their full potential because I believe education should be accessible to all and that every student has a right to it. My core tutoring areas include English at all levels, math from elementary through SAT, and history. I'm excited to help you succeed in a way that's meaningful for you. I look forward to connecting with you and learning alongside you!
I'm a biochemistry major at Northeastern University. I love math and science, and like to work with kids and teens on those subjects. I have also worked in an ESL classroom, and am available to help with reading and writing skills. I look forward to working with you!
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Logical Reasoning questions test your ability to analyze arguments quickly and identify logical flaws under time pressure—typically just 1-2 minutes per question. The section rewards precision: you need to distinguish between subtle differences in reasoning, evaluate evidence strength, and recognize common argument patterns. Many students struggle with the speed required, the abstract nature of the questions, and the variety of question types (assumption, strengthen/weaken, flaw, parallel reasoning, etc.).
Score improvement depends on your starting point and consistency. Students who work through 10-20 practice tests with focused feedback typically see meaningful gains—often 3-7 points on the LSAT's 120-180 scale. The key is identifying your specific weak areas (particular question types, timing issues, or reasoning patterns you miss) and drilling those systematically. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction helps you target exactly where you're losing points rather than studying broadly.
Timing issues usually stem from either overthinking individual questions or not recognizing question types quickly enough. A tutor can teach you to identify question types within seconds, eliminate clearly wrong answers faster, and know when to skip a tough question and return to it. Many students benefit from practicing with a timer on smaller sets (5-10 questions) before attempting full sections, building speed gradually without sacrificing accuracy.
The LSAT tests several core reasoning skills: identifying assumptions (what must the author believe?), strengthening or weakening arguments, finding logical flaws, drawing inferences, and recognizing parallel reasoning. Each type requires a different analytical approach. Understanding how to deconstruct each format—breaking down the argument, identifying the conclusion, and spotting gaps in logic—is essential. Tutors typically focus on teaching you a systematic method for each question type so you can apply it consistently under pressure.
Most LSAT prep experts recommend completing 15-20+ full practice tests leading up to test day, with at least half done under timed conditions. However, quantity matters less than quality—reviewing every single question you miss (and understanding why) is what drives improvement. A tutor can help you prioritize which tests to take, how to review them effectively, and which question types to drill based on your performance patterns.
Your first session typically includes a diagnostic assessment: reviewing a sample of Logical Reasoning questions to identify your specific weak areas, whether that's particular question types, timing, or reasoning patterns you're missing. The tutor will also discuss your target LSAT score, timeline, and current study habits. From there, you'll develop a personalized study plan focused on your biggest opportunities for improvement.
Test anxiety often stems from uncertainty—not knowing what to expect or doubting your ability to handle tough questions. Personalized tutoring builds confidence through repeated practice with immediate feedback, helping you recognize patterns and develop reliable strategies. When you understand the logic behind correct answers and practice under timed conditions, you develop trust in your process. Many students find that knowing exactly what to expect and having a systematic approach significantly reduces anxiety on test day.
Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who have deep experience teaching LSAT Logical Reasoning and understand the specific reasoning patterns tested. When you get matched with a tutor, you can discuss your target score, learning style, and availability to ensure it's a good fit. Many students benefit from a tutor who can adapt their teaching approach—whether you learn best through deconstructing arguments step-by-step, visual diagrams, or rapid-fire practice drills.
