I have also taught Introductory Chemistry to students who had never had chemistry before and also a General, Organic, and Biochemistry course for health professions. I look at chemistry as a set of skills to be learned, similar to learning a sport or a musical instrument. I can show you what to do, but to really learn you need to do things yourself.

I completed my Bachelor???s at the University of South Florida with an honors thesis on the current research in the field of linguistic relativity among bilinguals. My research interests include literacy, the relationship between cognition and language, and the history of language. My other interests include public speaking and volunteering. My goal is to become a Ph.D. researcher after I obtain my Certificate of Clinical Competence as a speech therapist. I tutor a wide variety of ages in a range of subjects, including but not limited to test preparation, latin, philosophy, and writing. Most of my experience is with math and sciences as well as test prep for English ACT exams. I can tutor in math (pre calculus, trigonometry, algebra, geometry) sciences (biological sciences, chemistry, physics) and English. My favorite subject to tutor is algebra because it is like a puzzle, and who does not like a good puzzle? My teaching philosophy consists of learning about the students' interests and providing a way to relate their interests into the work they are doing so it can be more meaningful to them. I have found that the more a subject means to a student personally, the better they do in the subject. So, in this way it is possible to turn a subject weakness into a strength and passion.
