About Me

I graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in natural resources with a focus in aquatic ecology. From there, I began teaching chemistry and coaching both fencing and soccer at an independent high school. After three years of teaching, I moved to the Czech Republic to teach business English for a year before returning to the United States for graduate school. I earned a Master of Science in environmental science with a focus on energy systems and climate change, as well as a Master of Secondary Science Education. I currently teach high school chemistry and honors biology at another independent school. I love working with high school students and am most passionate about fostering an interest in science and an understanding of the science that is all around us. I am currently tutoring life science, environmental science, and ecology, my favorite being environmental science. I believe it is important for everyone to learn environmental science, and how we as humans are impacting our environment every day. My teaching style is very hands-on in terms of going over the material together and developing methods that will help each individual student feel like they really understand the content. I also make sure to provide examples and context as to why these topics are important to everyday life. I believe that an understanding of how science influences our daily lives will help current students be responsible global citizens in the future. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, going to fitness classes, baking, and traveling as much as I can.
