There, I earned a B.S. in Psychology and a M.A. in Special Education. I formally started my teaching career in 1980. As the years went by, I was afforded my opportunities in numerous environments, which allowed me grow in experience, but more importantly, flourish with passion while serving the students and families that I'd encountered. At one point in my career, I seriously considered joining the Peace Corp. In 1987, I was honored by receiving the First Union Teacher of the Year Award from the school district that I worked for. That very same year my daughter was born. That summer, I started tutoring, which has continued through the years. As an active member of our church, I taught Sunday school and volunteered in the nursery. One of the most vivid memories that I cherish was and still is volunteering and participating with my students at the Special Olympics.

Walking on the beach, sewing, traveling, spending time with our grandsons, cooking and exploring new adventures.
