I take pride in my own academic education and strive to inspire others feel the same. I am a strong believer in the power of education, and understand that we can all use a little extra help to achieve our goals. I feel my experience working in varied environments has enabled me to develop a range of practical skills and allows me to be able to relate to students of all ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds. As someone who also receives tutoring, I completely understand how difficult and frustrating learning can be at times. I believe this perspective allows me to really be able to engage with my students. Lastly, my ability to motivate and inspire others is a very significant contribution that I am confident I can bring to the course and into the classroom.

I'm a 4th year college student at Stony Brook University working towards a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and a minor in writing and rhetoric. I love helping other students enjoy what they are learning by providing support as a tutor! Students who struggle in their academics often just need a role model who can focus on their individual learning style and encourage them to utilize it -- which is who I try to be each day. My goal for my students is for them to see past the challenges and enjoy the process of learning. I have over 2 years' experience tutoring kids in grades K-12 in math, science, English, and test prep, as well as helping fellow college students in biology, math, and chemistry. Examples of my expertise include teaching a class at an SAT prep center, private tutoring for K-12 both in-person and online, serving as head teaching assistant for college-level biology, and working as a chemistry peer tutor for other students at my university. I use a wide range of virtual games, arts and crafts, physical activity, virtual simulations, and real-world problems to make tutoring sessions engaging and appropriate to age level. As someone who wants to pursue research and teaching as a career, I believe quality, accessible education can have a huge positive impact on people's wellbeing and development.

Hello, my name is Vaibhav Sharma and I am a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. I majored in neuroscience and chemistry and while I was in college I spent my time volunteering at local hospitals and researching novel neuroscience techniques. I will attend medical school at Geisinger Commonwealth Medical College this fall. Having taken all of the science classes since high school, I know how daunting and hard science material might seem but if taken at a very fundamental level, it is much more logical and simpler than how many high school teachers or college professors make it seem. Thats how I approach tutoring my clients. I try to use practical examples on how the science principles come into play in the real world.

I am a certified Elementary Teacher. I graduated from Brigham Young University and have been teaching for 3 years. I have taught 4th grade and 6th grade, and I have volunteered in 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade classes as well. I love helping students learn. My favorite part about teaching is helping students understand a concept that they've been struggling with by explaining it in a new way. I love teaching math, especially algebra. I also love to read in my spare time, and I strive to pass on that love of reading to my students. I enjoy helping them learn to decode and comprehend, because those are the things that make reading enjoyable! In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, baking, and watching sports.

I graduated from Washington State University. My major was Sociology with a minor in Human Development. Later, I became a teacher to assist students with learning disabilities. My biggest revelation was that everyone learns differently.I help struggling students find their learning style and apply it. The process may not be pretty but progress is made . One strategy is "no opting out". Students work on a assignment despite believing they cannot complete it.My approach to tutoring is two-fold for students in elementary school to high school. They must practice skills and learning strategies. This approach does not accommodate college students because of the academic workload. For them, our sessions are project-based. I cover all aspects of an assignment, including examples or critique completed projects.I now focus on entrepreneurial education and S.T.E.M. The subjects that I tutor are: English, Language Arts and Basic Math to Pre-Algebra. I look forward to unleashing the learning potential of future clients.

With a background in cognition based studies, I'd personally be obliged to teach you or your child what I know! Considering that many people go through intense stress in order to succeed in the school system these days, I'd be a refreshing back-seat approach to hopefully engage you or your young learner in the material involved. What is this 'back-seat' approach? The back seat approach is a method of going through material but rather than set strict quotas for a student. I work with the student to help them with whatever problem they may have. It works because the student doesn't realize that they are being guided in the long run, but gradually the student may become more adept to the material. And surely, after a few weeks of tutoring, the processes to solve a particular dilemma, the steps would become second nature to the student. As I am comfortable with anything from Biology to History, and from Arithmetic to Algebra, and even English Reading and Composition (writing), I believe I am a great pick if you are looking for a tutor with a well rounded understanding and approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Series 14A exam focuses on the rules and regulations that Designated Market Makers (DMMs) must follow when operating on the New York Stock Exchange. Key topics include market maker responsibilities, order handling procedures, trading regulations, compliance requirements, and ethical standards. The exam tests both knowledge of NYSE rules specific to DMM operations and broader securities regulations that apply to market participants. A tutor specializing in Series 14A preparation can break down these complex regulatory areas and help you understand how they apply to real-world DMM scenarios.

Most candidates spend 4-8 weeks preparing for the Series 14A, though this varies based on your background in securities and regulatory compliance. If you're new to the financial industry, you may benefit from a longer study timeline. Personalized tutoring can significantly accelerate your progress by focusing on the specific areas where you need the most help, rather than spending time on concepts you already understand. A tutor can create a customized study plan based on your starting point and target exam date.

The Series 14A exam challenges candidates because it requires mastery of detailed regulatory language and the ability to apply rules to specific trading scenarios. Many test-takers struggle with distinguishing between similar rules, understanding the nuances of compliance obligations, and recognizing how different regulations interact. Additionally, the exam emphasizes practical application rather than just memorization, so you need to understand the "why" behind regulations, not just the "what." Personalized instruction helps by clarifying confusing regulations, providing practice with scenario-based questions, and teaching test-taking strategies specific to how the exam presents material.

An effective Series 14A tutor should have deep expertise in NYSE regulations and DMM operations, ideally with real experience in market making or compliance roles. They should be able to explain complex regulatory concepts clearly and connect them to practical trading scenarios. The best tutors also understand how the exam questions are constructed and can teach you to recognize what examiners are testing for with each question. Look for someone who tailors their approach to your learning style and can identify your specific weak areas to focus your study time efficiently.

Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to identify exactly which regulatory concepts are giving you trouble and spend dedicated time on those areas, rather than reviewing material you've already mastered. Tutors can also provide targeted practice with exam-style questions, help you develop strategies for scenario-based questions, and give you feedback on your reasoning process. This focused approach is far more efficient than generic study materials, and research on learning shows that personalized instruction significantly improves both understanding and retention of complex material.

You need to score at least 70% on the Series 14A exam to pass. This means getting approximately 70 out of 100 questions correct, though the exact number can vary slightly depending on question weighting. Achieving this score requires solid understanding of the core regulatory topics and the ability to apply them accurately under test conditions. A tutor can help you focus your preparation on the highest-yield topics and develop the confidence and test-taking skills you need to reach this threshold consistently.

Yes, many candidates successfully prepare for the Series 14A while working full-time, particularly with structured, efficient study methods. Personalized tutoring is especially valuable in this situation because a tutor can work around your schedule and focus your limited study time on high-impact areas. Instead of spending hours reviewing material you don't need, you can work with a tutor on just the concepts that challenge you, making your preparation both faster and more effective during evenings and weekends.
