The Big Game

Max plays on a summer baseball team. The team’s name is The Dragons and the team wears bright green jerseys to each of their games. So far this season, The Dragons have won every game that they have played. They have one game left, the championship game. The winner of the championship game gets a giant trophy and a big pizza party after the game. 

On the morning of the championship game Max woke up early, too excited to sleep! From his room he could smell bacon and pancakes, so he rushed to the kitchen. His mom had woken up early and cooked a breakfast for a champion! After his belly was full and he had put on his bright green uniform, Max and his family drove to the ballpark for his final baseball game. 

The game started out slow, the score was still  going into the top of the ninth inning. When it was Max’s turn to bat, the bases were full. On the first pitch, Max put all of his might behind his swing and the ball went soaring out of the park! He stood and watched as his three teammates came running for home-plate, then he took off, and ran around the bases. 

The final score of the game was , Max’s team had won because of his home run hit! 

What did Max's team do after the game? 

Possible Answers:

Max's team went to a pizza party. 

Max's team went over to Max's house for a pool party. 

Max's team went to a cookout. 

Max's team went to a pool party. 

Correct answer:

Max's team went to a pizza party. 

Explanation:

The passage ends with the score of the game and the reason why Max's team wins the game. However, at the beginning of the story we were told that the winners of the game get a trophy and then a pizza party after the game. Because Max's team won, we can infer that they went to a pizza party.

The Rainforest 

The rainforest would be a great place to visit because it is the habitat of many different types of wildlife and plants. It rains a lot in the rainforest. However, this allows many different types of flowers and trees to grow. There are over 700 types of trees and 1,000 types of flowers that grow in the rainforest! All of these trees and flowers create a diverse habitat that is a great home for many different types of animals.

Plants are not the only things that you would see if you visited the rainforest. A lot of different types of animals can be found in the rainforest. While in the rainforest, you might see a slithering snake rapping itself around a tree branch, or a slimy frog hoping along the ground. In the tops of the trees you may also see the bright colors of many different birds flying from branch to branch. But, if you do not like bugs, you will not like the rainforest! In the rainforest, there are more bugs than any other living thing. 

If you plan to visit the rainforest one day, do not forget to pack your rain-boots and bug spray!
