Correct answer:

Explanation:

$5 ^{4} = 625; 5 ^{5} = 3,125$

Therefore,

$\log_{5} 625 = 4; \log_{5} 3,125 = 5$

$\log_{5} 625 <\log_{5} 1,000 < \log_{5} 3,125$

$4 <\log_{5} 1,000 < 5$

$1.25 \times 10^ {20}$

Explanation:

$\left ( 5\times 10^{6}\right )^{3}$

$= 5^{3} \times \left ( 10^{6}\right )^{3}$

$= 125 \times 10^{6\cdot 3 }$

$= 125 \times 10^{18 }$

Since 125 is not in the range $\left [1,10 \right )$ , we adjust the answer as follows:

$125 \times 10^{18 }$

$= 1.25 \times 10^ {2}\times 10^{18 }$

$= 1.25 \times 10^ {2+18}$

$= 1.25 \times 10^ {20}$

Explanation:

$\left ( 2.4 \times 10 ^{12}\right ) \div \left (6.4 \times 10^{4} \right )$

$= \frac{ 2.4 \times 10 ^{12} }{6.4 \times 10^{4}}$

$= \frac{ 2.4 }{6.4 } \times \frac{ 10 ^{12} }{ 10^{4}}$

$=0.375 \times 10 ^{12-4}$

$=0.375 \times 10 ^{8}$

Since 0.375 is not in the range $\left [1,10 \right )$ , we adjust the answer as follows:

$0.375 \times 10 ^{8}$

$= 3.75\times 10 ^ {-1} \times 10 ^{8}$

$= 3.75\times 10 ^ {-1+8 }$

$= 3.75\times 10 ^ {7 }$

$= 64 \times 10 ^{-7\cdot 3}$

$= 64 \times 10 ^{-21}$

Since 64 does not fall in the range [1, 10) , we adjust as follows:

$64 \times 10 ^{-21}$

$= 6.4\times 10 ^{1} \times 10 ^{-21}$

$=\frac{ 1.5 }{1.6 } \times \frac{ 10^{-20} }{ 10^{- 5}}$

$=0.9375 \times 10^{-20- (-5)}$

$=0.9375 \times 10^{-20+5}$

$=0.9375 \times 10^{-15}$

Since 0.9375 does not fall in the range $\left [1,10 \right )$ , we adjust the answer as follows:

$0.9375 \times 10^{-15}$

$= 9.375\times 10^{-1} \times 10^{-15}$

$= 40 \times 10 ^{8+7}$

$= 40 \times 10 ^{15 }$

Since 40 does not fall inside the rangle [1,10) , we adjust the answer as follows:

$40 \times 10 ^{15 }$

$= 4 \times 10^{1} \times 10 ^{15 }$

$= 4 \times 10 ^{1+ 15 }$
