I know that it is often difficult to get through a course or an exam. I also know that each student has individual strengths and weaknesses. I try to identify and focus on where work is needed; I do not use a "one size fits all" approach. I'm receptive to all student questions and concerns.I tutor law. I'm an experienced attorney and have taught in a (college) classroom setting and on a one-to-one basis.

I take pride in my own academic education and strive to inspire others feel the same. I am a strong believer in the power of education, and understand that we can all use a little extra help to achieve our goals. I feel my experience working in varied environments has enabled me to develop a range of practical skills and allows me to be able to relate to students of all ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds. As someone who also receives tutoring, I completely understand how difficult and frustrating learning can be at times. I believe this perspective allows me to really be able to engage with my students. Lastly, my ability to motivate and inspire others is a very significant contribution that I am confident I can bring to the course and into the classroom.

I'm a 4th year college student at Stony Brook University working towards a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and a minor in writing and rhetoric. I love helping other students enjoy what they are learning by providing support as a tutor! Students who struggle in their academics often just need a role model who can focus on their individual learning style and encourage them to utilize it -- which is who I try to be each day. My goal for my students is for them to see past the challenges and enjoy the process of learning. I have over 2 years' experience tutoring kids in grades K-12 in math, science, English, and test prep, as well as helping fellow college students in biology, math, and chemistry. Examples of my expertise include teaching a class at an SAT prep center, private tutoring for K-12 both in-person and online, serving as head teaching assistant for college-level biology, and working as a chemistry peer tutor for other students at my university. I use a wide range of virtual games, arts and crafts, physical activity, virtual simulations, and real-world problems to make tutoring sessions engaging and appropriate to age level. As someone who wants to pursue research and teaching as a career, I believe quality, accessible education can have a huge positive impact on people's wellbeing and development.

Hello, my name is Vaibhav Sharma and I am a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. I majored in neuroscience and chemistry and while I was in college I spent my time volunteering at local hospitals and researching novel neuroscience techniques. I will attend medical school at Geisinger Commonwealth Medical College this fall. Having taken all of the science classes since high school, I know how daunting and hard science material might seem but if taken at a very fundamental level, it is much more logical and simpler than how many high school teachers or college professors make it seem. Thats how I approach tutoring my clients. I try to use practical examples on how the science principles come into play in the real world.

I am a certified Elementary Teacher. I graduated from Brigham Young University and have been teaching for 3 years. I have taught 4th grade and 6th grade, and I have volunteered in 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade classes as well. I love helping students learn. My favorite part about teaching is helping students understand a concept that they've been struggling with by explaining it in a new way. I love teaching math, especially algebra. I also love to read in my spare time, and I strive to pass on that love of reading to my students. I enjoy helping them learn to decode and comprehend, because those are the things that make reading enjoyable! In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, baking, and watching sports.

I graduated from Washington State University. My major was Sociology with a minor in Human Development. Later, I became a teacher to assist students with learning disabilities. My biggest revelation was that everyone learns differently.I help struggling students find their learning style and apply it. The process may not be pretty but progress is made . One strategy is "no opting out". Students work on a assignment despite believing they cannot complete it.My approach to tutoring is two-fold for students in elementary school to high school. They must practice skills and learning strategies. This approach does not accommodate college students because of the academic workload. For them, our sessions are project-based. I cover all aspects of an assignment, including examples or critique completed projects.I now focus on entrepreneurial education and S.T.E.M. The subjects that I tutor are: English, Language Arts and Basic Math to Pre-Algebra. I look forward to unleashing the learning potential of future clients.

With a background in cognition based studies, I'd personally be obliged to teach you or your child what I know! Considering that many people go through intense stress in order to succeed in the school system these days, I'd be a refreshing back-seat approach to hopefully engage you or your young learner in the material involved. What is this 'back-seat' approach? The back seat approach is a method of going through material but rather than set strict quotas for a student. I work with the student to help them with whatever problem they may have. It works because the student doesn't realize that they are being guided in the long run, but gradually the student may become more adept to the material. And surely, after a few weeks of tutoring, the processes to solve a particular dilemma, the steps would become second nature to the student. As I am comfortable with anything from Biology to History, and from Arithmetic to Algebra, and even English Reading and Composition (writing), I believe I am a great pick if you are looking for a tutor with a well rounded understanding and approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Washington Bar Exam tests both breadth and depth across multiple subjects, and many test-takers struggle with time management during the multi-day exam. Common challenges include mastering the unique aspects of Washington state law (particularly in areas like family law and real estate), balancing essay writing with multiple-choice questions, and managing exam anxiety after years of law school. Additionally, many candidates underestimate how much practice with actual exam formats and timing is needed to perform at their best.

While prep courses provide comprehensive outlines and group lectures, personalized tutoring targets your specific weak areas and learning style. A tutor can identify whether you're struggling with essay organization, multiple-choice strategies, or substantive law gaps—then focus sessions directly on those areas rather than reviewing material you've already mastered. Tutors also provide real-time feedback on your practice essays and can adjust their teaching methods based on how you learn best, which leads to more efficient preparation and better retention of material.

Yes. Essay writing is one of the most improvable areas with personalized guidance. Tutors can help you develop a consistent essay structure, manage time more effectively under pressure, and ensure you're spotting all the relevant legal issues examiners are looking for. By reviewing your practice essays, providing detailed feedback on analysis depth and organization, and having you rewrite essays with corrections, tutors help you build the skills that directly translate to higher essay scores on test day.

Washington-specific law is significantly tested on the Bar Exam, particularly in family law, real estate/property law, and some procedural areas. While multi-state law concepts form the foundation, the exam includes questions that specifically test Washington statutes, case law, and rules of procedure. Tutors familiar with the Washington Bar can help you understand how state law differs from or modifies the Restatements and Model Codes, ensuring you're prepared for the unique aspects of what Washington examiners test.

Multiple-choice performance improves significantly with strategic practice. Effective approaches include learning to eliminate clearly wrong answers, recognizing common trap answers that test subtle distinctions in law, and managing time so you don't get stuck on difficult questions. Tutors can teach you to analyze what each answer choice is testing, help you practice on timed, full-length exams to build speed and accuracy, and identify patterns in which types of questions you're missing—whether they're subject-matter gaps or strategy issues.

Most candidates benefit from starting tutoring 3-4 months before their Bar Exam date, though the timeline depends on your starting point and exam date. You can typically see measurable improvements in essay organization and multiple-choice accuracy within 2-3 weeks of focused tutoring. The most significant gains come from consistent practice between sessions combined with targeted feedback—candidates who practice essays, review tutor corrections, and then apply those lessons to new practice material see the most substantial score improvements.

Great Bar Exam tutors combine deep knowledge of Washington law with experience teaching adults under pressure. They should be familiar with the specific format and content of the Washington Bar Exam, have a track record of helping candidates improve scores, and excel at diagnosing exactly where you're struggling—whether that's substantive law gaps, writing mechanics, or test-taking strategy. The best tutors are also skilled at explaining complex legal concepts clearly and at providing constructive feedback that you can actually implement before your next practice attempt.
