My mission is to instill a love of learning in students by providing them with the necessary tools to succeed. I have over a decade of experience teaching in the classroom and providing tutoring in a broad range of subjects. In 2005 I graduated from New Saint Andrews College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts in Culture (Summa Cum Laude). Following this, I taught at a small high school for five years, providing instruction in many subjects, including history, literature, Latin, English composition, and SAT prep. Following this, I took a break from classroom teaching (as my husband and I decided to grow our family) and pursued individual tutoring opportunities in English composition and music instruction. I am now in my third year at a small elementary school where I oversee all curriculum and provide instruction in 3rd-6th grade math, Latin, and English composition. When I'm not teaching, I write historical fiction set during the Middle Ages and the British Regency and do copy editing for a small press that my husband and I co-own.

Anatomy & Physiology Tutor • +9 Subjects
I started my journey while in high school, I took my first anatomy and physiology class and discovered that I wanted a career that would allow me to work with the human body. I was mostly interested in dentistry and orthodontics until I hurt my back in an offseason football workout. After I went to my Chiropractor I realized the importance of the structure of the spine and the function of the central nervous system. While in college I was named captain of our rugby team and enjoyed helping other learn and work together. I was a teacher assistant for an anatomy and physiology class during my time at Fairfield University. I continued my passion of helping others while at Palmer College of Chiropractic where I tutored the first quarter students in general anatomy where I aided them in understanding the anatomy with the use of cadavers. A short while later I was named the president of a chiropractic technique club called: Gonstead Technique. I plan on using my experience and knowledge to help others reach their goals and full potential.

Currently, I am a first year student at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Although unofficial, I will most likely continue on to minor in English/Literature or Art History. My skills vary widely in terms of tutoring subjects. I am personally equipped to teach elementary school through college level courses; however, as I have a passion for literature and the arts, I specialize and do best in tutoring English, Writing, and Literature Analysis & Critique. I love to equip my students with the tools they need to succeed in and out of the classroom - there is a difference between tutoring for the test, and tutoring to expand the way a person thinks, perceives, and analyzes the world. Outside of teaching, though, I love to write and read for pleasure, as well as learn about art and art history. I also play the french horn and the trumpet!

After college I moved to Spain where I gave private test prep lessons to high school students and also helped friends prepare for their college entrance exams. By using my broad background in these subjects I can help students see concepts in different ways, and by enthusiastically approaching problems I can help increase the student’s interest. When I am not working or studying for Actuarial Exams, I play guitar, exercise and write computer programs.

Yes. With an average student-teacher ratio of 13.3:1 in Arlington Heights schools, many students benefit from personalized 1-on-1 instruction to get the individualized attention they need. Tutoring fills that gap, allowing students to ask questions, work at their own pace, and dive deeper into concepts that may get rushed in a classroom setting.
Tutors who work with Varsity Tutors are familiar with Illinois State Standards and the specific expectations for each grade level and subject. They tailor instruction to help students master the skills and content they need to succeed on Illinois assessments and in their coursework, whether that's in math, reading, science, or other core subjects.
Students in Arlington Heights seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, including math (algebra, geometry, pre-calculus), English and reading comprehension, science, and standardized test preparation. The specific needs vary by grade level—younger students often focus on foundational math and reading skills, while high schoolers frequently need support with advanced math and test prep for the ACT or SAT.
The first session is an opportunity for the tutor to understand your student's current level, learning style, and specific goals. They'll assess where your student is strong and where they need support, then develop a personalized plan. This foundation helps ensure every session after that is focused and productive.
Varsity Tutors works with the schedules of Arlington Heights families, offering personalized instruction at times that fit your family's needs. Whether your student needs help after school, on weekends, or during the school year or summer, we connect them with tutors who can accommodate their schedule.

Some students focus on mastering a specific skill or concept, while others work toward bigger goals like improving their GPA or preparing for standardized tests. A tutor will work with your student to set clear, achievable goals and track progress along the way.
