I'm referring to math, of course, but I didn't always like the subject. Until about age 16, I thought of math as a boring, mind-numbing process of blindly memorizing formulas and then forgetting them after the test, but a series of wonderful teachers showed me the truth. I had thought that everything in math was invented arbitrarily just to torture students, but actually it all made sense in a deep way. When I caught a glimpse of what math really was, I found it irresistible and I ended up majoring in math in college at UChicago. I'm currently a Master's student in Computer Science at NYU.

I'm Kade and I'm currently a second-year at Northwestern University studying biology and chemistry on the pre-medical track. Outside of school/tutoring, I spend time volunteering for my university's annual Dance Marathon fundraiser, a member of Camp Kesem, working as a study group mentor, and I'm also into running and hiking. I look forward to tutoring y'all!

I am a 4th year student at The University of Chicago majoring in Economics. I recently completed all of my coursework and am now filling my time with the activities I most enjoy. One of these activities is teaching. At the beginning of this academic year, I joined an organization on campus that teaches juniors and seniors at a local high school about community engagement through the lens of philanthropy. Through this, I have the unique opportunity to empower students to become leaders in their community; to provide them a platform to change issues about which they are most passionate. This experience inspires my desire to educate young students; to provide them the tools to be leaders, whether that be in the classroom, on the playing field, or in their community. My time as a youth soccer coach and tutor of my little brother and his friends has further bolstered my love of teaching. Given my extensive experience and longtime passion for math and applied math subjects, I feel I can best help students seeking help in these areas, though I have experience in a broad range of subjects. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing soccer, basketball, guitar and piano, as well as cooking, hiking and listening to podcasts.

While I tutor a diverse array of subjects, my passions lie in Math, English, and Writing. I also love helping students with college admissions! I firmly believe that learning should be an enjoyable and enriching experience for everyone, so I strive to make each tutoring session unique and engaging.

Linear Algebra Tutor • +3 Subjects
I've been working with students for over seven years, from middle school all the way through college, across subjects like math, calculus, statistics, linear algebra, chemistry, and physics, with a lot of SAT and ACT prep mixed in. My background is perhaps a little unconventional. I have two bachelor's degrees, one in Engineering and one in Communication Studies, plus a Master's in Design. That combination means I can guide you through challenging technical material and communicate it in a way that is easy to grasp. What I care most about is helping students get to a place where they don't need me anymore. I know that sounds like a strange thing for a tutor to say, but I think it's the right goal. I'm not here to walk you through steps to copy down. I want you to understand why something works, because that's what holds up under pressure, on a test you haven't seen before. If you're ready to ace that test or prove that theorem that's been bugging you, reach out and let's work together

I'm fairly good at math. I love art and music and movies and make sure to spare some time for a good TV show once in a while. I'm plenty mature, but I have to admit I have a soft spot for cartoons. Learning and teaching are my lifelong passions, and it is this passion that I hope to impart to my students; I want to infect my students with the intellectual enthusiasm that has brought so many rewards to my own life. Hobbies: books, music, art, movies, reading, writing

I am a sophomore in college at McGill University and am studying Biology and Computer Science. I am passionate about science and would love to help kids who are struggling with it. I hope through tutoring I can help children find the love for learning that I have found. This is in the end the best motivation a child can have. I struggled a lot at the beginning of classes and know what it feels like when something doesn't click. I use this when I tutor and know to go slowly and diligently through everything. I have one year of professional experience in a tutoring center and have worked with children of all ages. I have training to teach anything from reading to Java programming. Tutors helped me through many classes and I would love to be able to do that for your child!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Peoria has 10 school districts serving over 15,400 students across 68 schools, and Varsity Tutors connects students from all of them with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a school in Peoria District 150, Peoria Heights, or any other local district, we can match them with a tutor who understands the specific curriculum and expectations they're working with.
Peoria students typically seek help in math, science, English, and test prep (ACT, SAT, and AP exams). Many also benefit from tutoring in foundational skills like reading and writing, as well as specialized subjects like foreign languages and chemistry. The best way to know what's right for your student is to discuss their specific needs when connecting with Varsity Tutors.
Peoria schools maintain an average student-teacher ratio of 15.1:1, which means individual students don't always get the focused attention they need during the school day. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by providing dedicated time for your student to ask questions, work through challenging concepts, and get immediate feedback—something that's difficult in a traditional classroom setting.
The first session is about building a foundation for success. The tutor will assess your student's current understanding, identify specific areas where they're struggling, and learn about their learning style and goals. This personalized approach ensures the tutoring plan is tailored to your student's needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Tutors work with students to master the specific skills and content outlined in Illinois State Standards and their individual school district's curriculum. Whether it's meeting grade-level benchmarks in reading and math or preparing for Illinois-required assessments, personalized instruction helps students build the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.
Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions you choose. Varsity Tutors works with families to create flexible tutoring plans that fit different budgets and schedules. We recommend reaching out to discuss your specific needs so we can provide transparent pricing for your situation.
Absolutely. Tutors offer flexible scheduling to work around school hours, extracurricular activities, and family commitments. Whether your student needs help after school, on weekends, or during breaks, Varsity Tutors can connect you with someone whose availability matches your family's needs.
Many students show noticeable improvement within 4-6 weeks of consistent tutoring, though the timeline depends on the subject, the student's starting point, and how frequently they meet with their tutor. Regular sessions combined with practice between meetings tend to produce the strongest results. Your tutor will help track progress and adjust the approach as needed.
