Before I graduated college, I worked for the Centers for Learning as a peer tutor. I also held planned review sessions for both midterm and final exams. Besides tutoring, I have been working teaching children since I was a senior in high school. After high school, I started working as a swim instructor and lifeguard at a summer camp. I have also been an assistant coach on a private swim clinic. My favorite subjects to tutor are geometry and algebra. Algebra is the foundation for many advanced topics in mathematics, and I strive to deepen students understanding of algebraic concepts and procedures. I recently completed my student teaching at Billerica Memorial High School, and I could not believe the number of students who still struggled with Algebra. I cannot wait to begin teaching so I can plan lessons and activities that show just how mathematics is to the real world! My tutoring style varies a lot per client. I like to assess each individual's needs and decide how to proceed from there. I like working one on one with students, and I like to teach through exploration and inquiry. I do not want to just show you or tell you the answer, I want to guide you towards getting there yourself! There is nothing like the feeling of knowing you helped a student understand something completely. Other than tutoring, I like to stay active, and I really enjoy being outdoors! While I was in high school, and for a year in college, I was on the swim team. Swimming is still one of my favorite things to do when I can find the time! I also like to run and hike with my dogs. While in college, I completed my first triathlon, and I am working towards completing another one in the upcoming year.
