About Me
As an undergraduate, I tutored young girls and middle school students in Reading, Math and other subjects as needed. Since graduation, I have taught English in France, worked with adults learning English as a Second Language, and tutored elementary, middle, and high school students in a wide variety of subjects, including Math, Science, Reading, English, ACT and SAT test preparation. I am a firm believer in problem-based learning, and encourage students to ask questions and think for themselves. Although I will not provide answers or a quick and simple fix, I will provide students with guidance and encouragement as they work through problems and learn to apply familiar concepts to unfamiliar situations. I also believe strongly in teaching "to the student," and therefore adapt my teaching to fit each individual's needs and learning styles. By pinpointing and addressing students' weaknesses and creating a comfortable, nurturing environment in which they can learn, I work to help students solidify their knowledge base and learn how to learn. In my free time, I enjoy running, playing piano, baking and learning about photography. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with friends.
