Shelia

I have taught middle school students for going on 24 years this year. I have a B.A. degree in English, Language, and Literature, an M.S. degree in Education, and a second M. S. degree in Criminal Justice. I also am ESOL and Reading Endorsed. I love to teach students in a variety of ways. My passion for teaching has resulted in me receiving the accolades Teacher of The Year, Teacher of the Month a couple of times, Who's Who among Teachers, and Highly Effective teacher two years in a row. I feel the 21 st century student has a plethora amount of resources that can allow him or her to excel in college-readiness courses, academic rigor, and life skills. I enjoy the fact that I can give students an opportunity to work independently, with a partner, group, and with me during teacher-led discussions. My gumption also allows me to remain persistent, patient, and willing to help my students in many ways. I use visuals, manipulatives, and hands-on activities to increase engagement at all times. I look forward to working with you and your child so we together can enhance strengths, increase reading levels, fluency, vocabulary knowledge, and reading comprehension scores. I am ready to dive in and soar with your child. Thanks Shelia I have had an extremely high success rate for helping potential teachers and current teachers with their certification exams for FTCE, FORT and Praxis exams for the subject areas Reading and English.
