- My name is John, and I'm excited to be tutoring again for Varsity Tutors!
About Me
Hello! I have many personal interests and hobbies, but I especially love to play sports (basketball and golf are my favorites!), travel and experience new cultures and languages (I have been to Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Croatia and Bosnia, Jamaica, Cuba, and Ecuador!). I also love to teach! My education began in Homewood, Alabama where I grew up and attended the excellent public schools there. In high school I competed on the Math team for Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Calculus as well as on the Physics team. I played on my high school golf team and served as the Senior Class President and President of the Show Choir my senior year. I also especially enjoyed beginning to learn French! I scored well on my ACT and was accepted to Washington University in St. Louis, where I majored in Anthropology with a minor in Psychology. I even did some research with a professor in the Human Evolutionary Biomechanics Lab during my junior and senior years that was published in the Journal of Experimental Biology (https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/dlieberman/files/2009d.pdf)! I graduated in 2009 with an award for achievement in Anthropology. After graduation I entered a service organization that sent me abroad! I lived for two years in France, where I became fluent in French and familiar with French culture and customs. Since moving back in 2015, I have been living in New Jersey and serving as a youth worker with middle and high school youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. I am also currently pursuing a Master's Degree at Seton Hall University. I hope you enjoyed this introduction, and I look forward to helping you meet your academic goals as a tutor for Varsity Tutors!
