Just as my job allows me to help our community, tutoring students allows me to pass on my knowledge to help you improve your learning & reach your goals! Through my academic and professional careers, I have been tutoring for 9 years and I've been able to boil down my educating philosophy into 3 parts:1. Learning HOW to learn is just as important as WHAT you are learning. You will be a more effective learner each time we meet!2. Mental blocks might just be emotional blocks. We all have those topics that intimidate us and make us feel not so great. But don't worry, we will work on learning the topic & on building confidence in yourself so you can conquer any topic that comes your way!3. I learn from you just as much as you learn from me. With each session together, I will learn how to be a better educator for you! During my undergraduate program, I took a tutoring course, after which I launched my professional tutoring practice. I have since professionally tutored chemistry, biology, writing, Spanish, Italian, and public speaking. My favorite subject to tutor is writing this is because I have been able to work with everyone from pre-kindergarteners to graduate students to working professionals in so many fields! It is a fundamental communication tool that is essential for everyone. With that being said, my passion really lies in the health sciences, so teaching chemistry & biology have always been special to me. Often these are the subjects that students struggle with, so seeing the concepts click for my students is one of the most gratifying experiences I have had as a tutor. Regardless of which subject I may tutor, I enjoy working with students and knowing that I played a role in helping them reach their academic and career goals.

My hobbies include reading contemporary poetry, creative writing, taking care of my plants, hiking, and arts and crafts.
