The truth is that I always knew. Ever since I was a little girl, my mother would always find me with all my toys lined up in front of me, and me in front of a chalkboard teaching them how to draw. There is really nothing like teaching. I think it is the most gratifying profession in the world. I absolutely love the outcome of what I do because I believe in long lasting relationships and long lasting thirst for knowledge. That is exactly what I teach my students. I teach them that the sky is the limit and that "I can't" should not be a part of their vocabulary. I am great at seeing the potential in everyone and not giving up until they see it too and live up to it. For the past 7 years, I have been a part of a wonderful community while working as a High School I.B. Art Teacher for the American School of Quito in Ecuador. I worked with 11th and 12th graders on the production of high quality art production, careful planning, reflection and written critical analysis with creative problem solving skills. This job has brought enormous opportunities for professional and personal growth. Being part of this demanding program has been very challenging but also filled with rewards. Making students' faces light up when their hard efforts pay off and they finally "get it", is priceless! My I.B. annual scores have always been above world average. My students have participated in national and international art contests with magnificent results with prizes and awards. I have formed an amazing bond with them that, I am sure, will last a lifetime. I still have students who I taught 7 years ago, tell me that what I taught them has stayed with them all these years. And like I said, that is what teaching is all about. That is why I became a teacher. I have good conflict resolution skills, I am patient, I am fair and I have enthusiastic energy. I believe I am qualified for a teaching job within your community and I will make a valuable addition to your team.
