As a senior, I interned at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, MD. I enjoyed learning the techniques and developed problem solving skills. This led me to pursuing my BS in Biological Sciences at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. While there, my professors trained us how to process problems and come to answers using critical thinking skills. We were taught to not simply memorize answers, but to understand them. This way of analyzing and learning science is what drives my approach to teaching. I try and share my passion with other students and guide them through more efficient ways of learning. I hope that by helping them analyze problems and understand solutions, they too will develop a passion for the topics. In addition to helping students master their material, I also prioritize general encouragement. Its important to me to build a relationship with the student and know where their interests lay. I want to be able to talk to them about their goals and visions for their future, and be able to share with them what my experiences have taught me. Education is so important, and I believe that by constant positive words of encouragement, students will sustain the desire to move forward with their schooling and earn their degrees with pride.
