I am a graduate of Northwestern University, where I completed a BA in Cognitive Science (Neuroscience concentration) as well as a BMus and Masters degree in Voice and Opera Performance. My teaching philosophy is one of guidance rather than direct instruction, helping students to discover answers on their own. I am very patient and understand that sometimes all it takes to understand a difficult concept is to explain it in a few different ways. We all learn differently, so I aim to develop an individualized approach for each student in order to make the most of our time together. While I am not being a tutor, I am a musician. In addition to singing, I play the violin and viola and dabble in everything from Bach to bluegrass to covers of pop songs. As an opera singer, I have studied Spanish, Italian, French and German and am accordingly fascinated by the etymology of words in my own cobbled-together language. I also have a special place in my heart for books about turn-of-the-century magicians and anything Viennese.
