I was born and raised in Westwood, MA, a suburb of Boston and have lived in the area ever since. I attended Boston College as a Biology/ Pre-med major, but also studied Russian Culture and Literature. After working in a lab in Boston for several years studying the molecular mechanisms of cancer, I decided to further my education in graduate school, exploring a new scientific direction. I recently completed my Ph.D. studies in Neuroscience at The University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. My thesis investigated the neural circuitry and neurotransmitter systems underlying food-reward learning using fruit flies.While trained in neurobiology and genetics, I've always had a passion for everything science, from all aspects of biology to chemistry and even theoretical physics and cosmology. I've also always been fascinated in history, from ancient civilizations to European history through modern day U.S. History.I've tutored students across a range of ages and experience. I've mentored several local high school students in their science projects, two of which went on to win awards at the regional competition. I mentored a group of first-year graduate students in the UMass Biomedical Sciences Curriculum. In lab, I've instructed and mentored many incoming lab mates from undergraduate technicians to post doctoral fellows.When I'm not in the lab, I can usually be found playing guitar and songwriting with my band, listening to new music, hitting the slopes on my snowboard or just spending a night in cooking interesting new dishes or baking bread.My goal is to always engage my students on their level and get them as excited about the subject matter as I am. I believe its my own thirst for knowledge and the drive to always know more about what interests me that makes me a highly effective tutor.

In my experience as a tutor and in my future endeavors, I want to impart this excitement for learning to each of my students. I began tutoring when I was in High School, helping both peers and students in Elementary and Middle School. Have written books, edited books, and published books, including bestsellers, and have written TV scripts. Have edited more than 100 books and tens of thousands of news and feature articles. Taught writing at two universities, one college, one community college, and have tutored grade school and high school students, college students, and adults. Degree in journalism, grad study in history.

I'm pursuing a double major in Mathematics and English at Vanderbilt University. I have been tutoring math since High School and have native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. I am dedicated to helping students explore the study methods that will fit their individual needs.

I graduated from UNC- Chapel Hill December 2015 and will be going to medical school this fall. I know how much of a struggle the MCAT can be. I put a lot of time and effort into it last year and came out successful. I know I can be a valuable resource to get you prepared for what seems like such a daunting test!

My philosophy as an educator is that every child can learn. I believe that often in education children are given up on if they cannot grasp a concept when in fact it is the education system that is failing the child. Every child has their own way of learning, and as an educator, it is my mission to make sure that every child achieves his/her goals.I am originally from Orlando, FL but relocated to Massachusetts a little over a year ago. I went to the University of Central Florida where I obtained my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I have six years experience in education and five years experience as a tutor. I love spending time outdoors with my family and watching sporting events.

I am currently at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing a bachelor degree in petroleum engineering. Since January 2016, I have been tutoring Math and Physics at my current college. These two subjects are my favorites because I am proficient. My tutoring style consists in having my students complete some practice problems that encompass the concepts they do not understand in order to identify their needs and help them master what could not before. My interests outside of academia consist in playing soccer and swimming. Also, I like to watch documentaries and movies, to read books, and to go for a walk in my neighborhood.
