I am currently a fellow in the Coro program, a graduate-level experiential learning program focused on civic leadership and cross-sector problem solving. My academic background is similarly interdisciplinary, and I tutor in subjects from Spanish to Geometry to SAT Prep. I have a special knack for cracking standardized tests, and I find it very rewarding to help demystify them by teaching students to recognize common strategies used to confuse test-takers. In my 8 years of tutoring, I have found the "supported challenge" model of engagement is effective for students from elementary through high school. At Dartmouth, I T.A.'d Spanish classes for all 4 years using the Rassias method, an individualized approach that aims to build fluency by focusing on verb structure, syntax, and pronunciation. After graduating with Phi Beta Kappa honors, I moved to Boston where I worked at software company HubSpot, honing my tech abilities and using my teaching skills to give bilingual support to customers from around the globe. In addition, I spent a year in France at the Universit Paris 1 Panthon-Sorbonne, where I obtained an LLM (master of laws) in French, European, and international law. Outside of academia, I have worked as a document translator and an in-court interpreter in both French and Spanish and have worked directly with French- and Spanish-speaking clients in legal and financial settings. As an undergraduate student, I was French-language liaison to the Modern Languages and Cultures Undergraduate Council, in which position I oversaw tutoring sessions, organized conversation and culture hours, and represented the interests of Francophone students and French learners at Council meetings. In addition, I co-directed an outreach program to local elementary schools, teaching both French and Spanish to children in grades K-4. On the legal side, I have worked in immigration, contract, family, and criminal law, and have been a teaching assistant for legal courses and served as a graduate-student mentor for pre-law students.

Standardized testing, while not something most students look forward to, seems to be one of the areas in which we can see the most timely and remarkable improvements in skill. I feel very strongly about education and will likely enter a PhD program combining Psychology and Pubic Policy to work on education reform next year. I hope to impart some of my own excitement about learning to all the students I have the opportunity to work with.
