When I was in high school, I remember seeing the joy of my math teachers when they would teach in class. This inspired me to become a high school math teacher. The first step was becoming a peer tutor to my classmates. This lead to tutoring math to college students. Then tutoring students while working as a TA. Then I worked as a data scientist which not only did I understand more how to apply math in the workspace, but also learned how to explain math concepts to coworkers without a strong math background. This helped me to shape my tutoring philosophy to relate to the person being tutored and this opened the door to me teaching high school calculus 1 & calculus 2! I am currently teaching precalculus at a community college.

I love to teach. I love young minds and fresh brains. Those are just like clean sheets of papers I can draw anything I like. I really like to help young people to achieve their full capacities with my long experience of teaching. I am very patient and good at explaining complex concepts in simple terms. I am looking forward to meeting students who need my help.
Hi, I'm Laura! I graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor's of science degree in mathematics and a minor in sociology. There, I earned the Frances B. Huston award, the most prestigious award given to graduating students, for excellence in academics, leadership, and community service. From there, I became a student at the University of Washington (UW), earning my Master of Science in Applied Mathematics and a position as a PhD student in the department. I was also awarded the Carl S. Pearson award for academic excellence in the Master's program. I have been working as a PhD student since then, with expertise in all types of math including algebra, calculus, linear algebra, and numerical analysis, among others. I also have years of experience coding in both python and matlab! I spent three years as an undergraduate teaching assistant, helping teach both high school and college level math classes. I also taught multiple sections of calculus at the University of Washington as a Master's student, and I have served as a teaching assistant throughout my time at UW. My favorite thing about these positions were the opportunities to work one-on-one with students, developing new approaches to help them understand difficult concepts. I love coming up with new examples or intuitive ways of thinking through math problems. I think everybody can learn math, and I love helping students of all ages and backgrounds achieve their mathematical goals! I have a number of resources to use in lesson planning, and I also welcome any resources or suggestions provided by students and parents to help tailor the experience to your needs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session!
I am excited to help students further their education through tutoring. I believe that any student can succeed as long as they are given access to a teaching style that they understand, and that is what I am striving to provide.
I am a graduate from Rochester Institute of Technology with a master's in Game Design and Development. My passions lie in everything related to games and mathematics. In the past, I have tutored various subjects in mathematics throughout high school and college, including but not limited to Algebra, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematics of Graphical Simulation, and Linear Algebra. As for technology, I am more than happy to reach out for help in Web Development (HTML, CSS, Javascript) or C# programming. I believe that every person can learn any topic. While every individual has different tastes, strengths, and weaknesses, there is no such thing as an "incapability" to know a subject. Education often possesses a guise of anti-fun, but I can promise you that all topics can be engaging, and I am willing to show you how engaging mathematics and technology can be. As a Game Designer, I have a deep interest in both playing games and making games. This includes games of all kinds: video games, board games, tabletop role-playing games, trading card games, miniatures, and even some sports like tennis or ping pong. Games act as a fantastic teaching tool. They teach by design without users recognizing. It is always a satisfying moment when somebody says "I learned that word from Magic" or "D&D taught me that." Remember: you can succeed. If something is important to you, then it's always worthwhile.
When I was young, I realized that I thought differently about Mathematics than my peers. I read the textbook and instantly understood it. Meanwhile, they struggled for hours. Seeing my childhood friends struggle in this way tugged on my heartstrings the same then as it does to see this struggle in my adult friends today. Because of this, I have developed a great passion for helping other people understand complex ideas. I have a strong belief that the best thing for a society is the spread of advanced critical thinking skills, so any learning assistance I can offer someone is doubly satisfying to me in that way. I studied for two years at Georgia Tech working towards a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, before having to withdraw for medical reasons. Through my work as a tutor, I intend to fund my return to collegiate education, although I am now interested in a degree more directly related to Mathematics. I enjoy tutoring many levels of Math, from basic Algebra all the way to mid-level Calculus. In fact, regardless of the topic at hand, I place a heavy emphasis on the importance of algebraic derivation, and understanding of Algebra in general. As they say, "Calculus is two steps of magic, and 30 steps of Algebra."
Geophysics graduate work at the University of Iceland had Caroline building and interpreting the same trigonometric and exponential models that AP Pre-Calculus tests — fitting seismic wave data and thermal decay curves requires genuine fluency with how these function families behave, not just formula recall. She leans on that modeling background to teach the course's composition and transformation questions as tools for describing real phenomena, which is exactly the reasoning lens the AP framework rewards. Her master's-level math fluency also means she can preview how each concept connects to the calculus sequence ahead.
Designing rocket trajectories and orbital models in his Aerospace Engineering program at UT Austin meant Pranad lived inside the trigonometric, polynomial, and exponential functions that AP Pre-Calculus is built around — they weren't textbook abstractions but tools for predicting how things move through space. He teaches the course by anchoring each function family to that intuition, especially when students hit the conceptual jump from computing answers to interpreting what a model's behavior actually means. His emphasis on connecting algebraic manipulation to graphical reasoning lines up directly with what the AP framework rewards.
I have a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, with additional graduate studies in Chemical Engineering and Computer Science, and over 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring STEM subjects. I work with students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning styles in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and related subjects. I believe the best tutoring starts with understanding how each student thinks. My goal is to identify where a concept becomes unclear, explain it from the student's perspective, and help them build both understanding and confidence. I want my students to learn not just how to find the right answer, but why it is the right answer and how to approach similar problems independently. I believe there is always learning in teaching, and that is one of the reasons I continue to enjoy working with students after all these years.
I love helping people! Whether it's learning math, writing, reading, etc. or playing sports, I really enjoy seeing other succeed via my assistance. I try to relate to students in whatever they enjoy and in doing so, apply concepts to our like interests to work through difficult subjects as well as to help foster a good, professional relationship. I have tutored several students in both math and English in the past and they have enjoyed resounding success and continue to reach out for my assistance. I look forward to working with and meeting many students and parents while helping them succeed in any way I can. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy playing sports (golf, basketball, softball, volleyball), playing with my dog, and hanging out with my wife. In addition, I am a meteorologist and oceanographer following my graduation at Penn State University with a BS in Meteorology. Finally, I am presently a student at MIT pursuing a Master's degree in Physical Oceanography.
Hello! I'm a passionate educator with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a love for making learning both effective and enjoyable. Over the years, I've taught a wide range of subjects, always with the goal of making even the most complex topics simple and approachable. My teaching style focuses on breaking down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps, working through problems together, and showing how lessons connect to real-world situations. I believe that a supportive, comfortable learning environment encourages curiosity and confidence, so students feel free to ask questions and explore ideas. Whether your child is building foundational skills or tackling advanced material, I'm committed to guiding them at their own pace, celebrating progress, and equipping them with tools that last far beyond our sessions. My mission is not only to help students succeed academically but also to help them enjoy the journey of learning
Before she found her footing in STEM, Riya struggled with the same abstract leaps that trip up most AP Pre-Calculus students — making sense of how trigonometric, exponential, and polynomial functions actually behave instead of just memorizing formulas. That personal experience shapes how she teaches the course now as a Computer Science major at Texas A&M, where she breaks down composition and transformation questions into concrete, step-by-step reasoning that builds real understanding. She's especially sharp at helping students bridge the gap between algebraic manipulation and the graphical interpretation the AP framework demands.
