I am a patient teacher who can explain problems in many different ways according to how individual students learn best. I only ask that you know and explain to me what topics you do not know or get so far. I know that every student can learn a subject with a combination of practice and patience, but I insist upon consistent effort and sessions. As an educator I do not support last minute cramming as the primary learning method of content for students as it does not lead to retention of material, mastery of larger themes, or the ability to differentiate between subtle differences when problem-solving on tests and exams. I will help my clients when they need extra sessions before Final Exams and AP Exams, but those who have been working the hardest throughout the school year to regularly improve will get preference over those students who are panicked at the last minute, but have put off meeting with me. It's a skill I use both in my academic life, as well as professionally; as a stage manager, it is often my job to take in complicated and conflicting pieces of information (the blocking, a quick change in costumes, changes in a script) and quickly organize that information so that I can convey it to someone else. I enjoy and excel at condensing and re-communicating facts or tasks, so that they become comprehensible to someone who may not understand them the first time around. I am currently a sophomore at Yale University working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. I began tutoring in high school at local elementary schools and continued tutoring into my college career with older students. I am capable of tutoring subjects ranging from Algebra and Calculus to Economics, standardized tests, Statistics, and more. Tutoring is something I enjoy because I love helping students achieve their goals and maximize their potential through practice and hard work. I'm a firm believer that the best way to improve in any area of academics is through practice. I am currently a Political Science and Environmental Studies major at Brown University. I find it extremely satisfying to share my passion for learning with others. From 2011 through 2013, I tutored middle school students in the Oakland Public School system through the Partners Program. From 2014 to 2015, I was employed as a private tutor for students both in middle school and in high school. Over the last year I have tutored international high school students online in test preparation, as well as various academic subjects. I have more informal teaching experience as a counselor intern naturalist at the Point Reyes Nature Science Camp as well. These jobs have been extremely rewarding, as I have had the opportunity to help my students better understand new concepts and form strong study habits. I also have learned how to explain problems and concepts in multiple ways. When I'm not tutoring, I love photography, playing softball, and backpacking long distance trails.

At Princeton, I work in the writing center tutoring fellow students in critical thinking, analysis, and academic writing. I also have a good deal of experience helping elementary and junior high students with math, reading, and French. Still, writing remains my favorite subject to tutor, largely because of the discussions that accompany it. Outside of the classroom, I'm a varsity cross-country and track runner; an enthusiastic fan of the New Yorker fiction podcast; and am fascinated by military history and policy.
