Hello! My name is Melissa Rountree, and I am a dedicated educator with more than 15 years of experience helping students build confidence, master challenging concepts, and achieve academic success. I currently teach in Fairfax County Public Schools, where I have taught a wide range of courses including U.S. History, Government, World History, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Honors courses, IB Psychology, ESOL, and Special Education classes. Throughout my career, I have worked with students of diverse academic backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities. Whether a student needs help improving grades, preparing for exams, developing study skills, or gaining confidence in a subject area, I create personalized learning experiences designed to help them reach their goals. In addition to my classroom experience, I have served as a learning coach and instructional leader, helping teachers implement effective intervention strategies and data-driven instruction. I have extensive experience developing curriculum, utilizing research-based teaching practices, and integrating technology to make learning engaging and accessible. I hold a Master of Education degree, a Master of Law degree with a concentration in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and professional teaching licenses in Virginia, Missouri, and Colorado. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students succeed academically but also to develop the critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills that will benefit them throughout their educational journey.
